Part 2: When Creativity Meets Culture
Continued from Part 1: When Creativity Meets Culture
When managing the relationship between creativity and culture, it really helps to think like a Jerk.
Jerks are culture makers. A culture is most easily identified by the individual reflexes – or knee jerks – of its people. Thinking like a Jerk means: understanding that there are three levels of creativity, recognizing peoples’ reflexes that help you identify which level they’re on, and knowing how to level up.
And the 3 levels of creativity are:
Creativity as a mindset – This is creativity applied inward to the way we think, process, and dream.
Creativity as a behavior – This is creativity applied outward as an expression of our mindset. It includes our behavior, our language, and our work product.
Creativity as a culture – This is creativity applied all around us and results in creativity as a culture as people begin to embrace mindset and behavior collectively.
Creativity as a mindset, behavior, and culture. Creativity in, out, and all around.
The biggest Jerks are the ones who cultivate creativity at each of these three levels.
