Creativity is essential to culture. 

The problem is many people approach creativity all wrong. They consider creating novel or original ideas as the goal. In some instances this is helpful, but in most cases, it completely misses the mark. 

Many people who prioritize ideas over productivity in the name of creativity don’t understand or value what’s required to run an effective organization, team, or even a healthy family. 

The idea itself, never accomplishes much. However, the ability to breathe life into an idea is the difference between liking the thought of putting a nice painting on your wall and actually painting one that hangs on the wall in your living room. 

Understanding the three levels of creativity and how the general interpretation of creativity – cool ideas – is only a portion of one of those levels, will help clarify the power of creativity in creating culture.
